VS RUGBY took their unbeaten League run to seven matches since the New Year with this victory which gave them a double over the Hampshire side.
In an untidy match dominated by the strong wind both sides found it difficult to play constructive football, but Rugby showed more urgency in the first half and took the lead in the 33rd minute when Mark Boyland's surprise shot from the edge of the area deceived the visiting keeper and crept in by the post.
The highlight of the second half was the save by keeper Mick Martin in the 77th minute when he stopped Colin Ball from equalising and two minutes later a superb goal by Mark Rosegreen when his first-time volley from just inside the area hit the back of the net.
